Cream-colored Theo Ruth for Artifort model 162 two-seater sofa

A rare two-seater sofa by Artifort, designed by Theo Ruth. Theo Ruth was born in the Netherlands in 1915. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht, where he quickly developed a passion for design. In 1936, he joined Artifort as a young designer, specializing in the creation of living room furniture. His talent was recognized when he was appointed Design Director in 1939, a position he held until his passing in 1971. This sofa, like the lounge chairs on our site, was assigned model number 162, and the design dates back to 1958. Another rarity: the sofa still has its original fabric, in a light cream color. It is in good condition with some discoloration in the fabric.‍
